Jammu: On Sunday evening, security personnel detected the movement of suspected drones in various forward positions along the International Border (IB) and the Line of Control (LoC) in the Samba, Rajouri, and Poonch districts of Jammu and Kashmir, according to officials.

These aerial devices reportedly originated from the Pakistan side and briefly hovered over Indian territory before returning, they noted.

In response to the drone sightings, security forces initiated a ground search operation in the affected areas.

Troops stationed in the Nowshera sector of Rajouri opened fire using medium and light machine guns upon observing drone activity over Gania-Kalsian village at approximately 6:35 PM.

Another drone was spotted at Khabbar village in Teryath, also around 6:35 PM. This object, which had a blinking light, was tracked back to Dharmsal village in Kalakote before moving towards Bharakh, officials reported.

Additionally, a drone-like object was seen hovering over Chak Babral village in the Ramgarh sector of Samba around 7:15 PM.

Another similar object was detected moving from Tain to Topa in the Mankote sector, located along the LoC in Poonch district at 6:25 PM.

Earlier, on Friday night, security forces seized an arms shipment that was allegedly dropped by a drone from Pakistan in Paloora village of Ghagwal, near the IB in Samba district. The recovered items included two pistols, three magazines, 16 rounds of ammunition, and a grenade.
