Suspicious Death of Engineering Student in Jharkhand Raises Concerns

Giridih (Jharkhand), Oct 7: A 22-year-old engineering student has died under mysterious circumstances in Giridih, Jharkhand. He was discovered in a serious condition at his rented home in Sitalpur, located within the jurisdiction of the Mufassil police station, as reported by officials on Wednesday.
The victim has been identified as Saurav Raj, who hailed from Pagwara in the Dumka district's Hansdiha area. He was studying engineering at the SIT in Giridih and had been residing in Sitalpur for approximately a year.
According to police reports, Saurav was found in a critical state in his room on Tuesday night and was rushed to Sadar Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by medical staff.
His father, Vinay Kumar Das, arrived at the Giridih Town Police Station on Wednesday morning to provide his account of the events. He mentioned that around 9:10 p.m. on Tuesday, the landlord's daughter, Tani Kumari, contacted the family to inform them that Saurav was in a critical condition.
The family quickly traveled from Dumka to Giridih. Meanwhile, a friend of Saurav's, upon hearing the news, rushed to the rented accommodation. Finding the door locked from the inside, the friend accessed the room through a window and managed to pull Saurav out. With assistance from local residents, he transported Saurav to Sadar Hospital.
The family arrived at the hospital around 11:50 p.m., only to learn that Saurav had already passed away. A postmortem examination was conducted in the presence of police officials shortly thereafter.
Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the student's death, including the condition of his room and the events leading up to the tragedy. Notably, injuries were discovered on Saurav's wrist, but police have yet to determine the exact cause of death.
Investigators are collecting information regarding various aspects of Saurav's life, including his academic pursuits, recent activities, and personal circumstances. Friends and nearby residents are also being interviewed as part of the inquiry.
Law enforcement is working to ascertain Saurav's condition prior to the incident and the factors that contributed to his untimely demise. Further actions will depend on the postmortem findings and the ongoing investigation.
