Suspicious Death of Agra Police Sub-Inspector Raises Questions
Tragic Discovery of Missing Sub-Inspector
In a troubling incident, a sub-inspector from the Agra Police Commissionerate in Uttar Pradesh has been found dead under mysterious circumstances. The officer, originally from Orai in Jalaun, had returned home on leave and subsequently went missing. His body was discovered in the Yamuna River near Kalpi eight days later, prompting an immediate police response. Authorities confirmed the identity of the deceased and arranged for a post-mortem examination. The police are treating this case as one involving a missing person, which has raised eyebrows given the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.
The sub-inspector, identified as Jitendra and residing in Rajendra Nagar within the Orai Kotwali jurisdiction, had been stationed at the Reserve Police Line in Agra. After returning home for leave, he informed his family that he was heading to the stadium to meet a friend but never returned. His brother, Sunil, reported that Jitendra left his belongings behind and went missing shortly after.
Last Known Movements of the Sub-Inspector
When Sunil attempted to contact Jitendra, he was told that he was with a friend, but the call was disconnected shortly after. Concern grew when Jitendra did not return home by nightfall, leading Sunil to inquire with his brother's friend, who claimed he hadn't seen Jitendra in two weeks. Fearing something was amiss, Sunil promptly filed a missing person report with the police. On Sunday morning, locals near Laxman Das's cottage in the Kalpi Kotwali area alerted authorities about a body they had discovered.
Investigation Underway Following Post-Mortem
Upon arrival, police found that the upper part of the body was missing, while the lower half remained intact. Personal items, including a phone, wallet, and PAN card, were recovered, aiding in the identification process. Sunil expressed confusion over his brother's state of mind, questioning the reasons behind what he suspects may have been a suicide. CO Orai, Archana Singh, stated that the post-mortem is currently being conducted, and the investigation is ongoing.
