Suspicious Circumstances Surrounding Sanjay Kapoor's Untimely Death
Tragic Passing of Sanjay Kapoor
Sanjay Kapoor, the former husband of actress Karisma Kapoor, tragically passed away during a polo match in England due to a heart attack, reportedly triggered by a bee sting. Witnesses claim that the 53-year-old businessman was gasping and uttered, 'I have swallowed something' before collapsing. His death occurred on June 12, and his remains were subsequently transported back to India for cremation. However, new claims have emerged suggesting that his death may not have been natural, as indicated by his mother, Rani Kapoor, who suspects foul play related to business dealings.
Concerns Raised by Rani Kapoor
A month after Sanjay's unexpected demise, Rani Kapoor expressed her concerns in a letter addressed to the shareholders of his company, Sona Comstar, and the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). She raised questions about the 'suspicious circumstances' surrounding his death, stating that 'there is much more than meets the eye.' Despite attempts to seek clarity, she claims to have received no official explanation or documentation regarding the incident. Rani alleges that during this period of mourning, she was pressured to sign documents without being informed of their contents.
Rani Kapoor's Allegations
In her correspondence, Rani Kapoor highlighted her objections to the annual general meeting (AGM) of Sona Comstar, which she felt was inappropriate given the family's grief over Sanjay's sudden passing. She claimed that she has been denied access to accounts and crucial documents since his death. According to Sanjay's will, Rani is the sole beneficiary of his estate and holds a majority stake in the Sona Group.
The Aftermath of Sanjay Kapoor's Death
Sanjay Kapoor's death on June 12, at the age of 53, occurred while he was playing polo. Reports suggest that he suffered a heart attack after allegedly swallowing a bee. Following his passing, Sona Comstar appointed Jeffrey Mark Overly as the new chairman on June 23. Kapoor was known to be the non-executive chairman of the automotive component company, which operates globally, including in India, China, Mexico, Serbia, and the USA.
