Suspected Spy Arrested in Haryana for Sharing Sensitive Information with Pakistan

Arrest of a Suspected Spy
The Haryana police have apprehended a suspected spy from Panipat district on allegations of sharing sensitive information with individuals in Pakistan. The suspect, identified as Nauman Ilahi, 24, was taken into custody on Tuesday. He hails from Karana in Uttar Pradesh and has been working as a private security guard in the area.
Connection to Pakistan
Karnal's Superintendent of Police, Ganga Ram Puniya, who also oversees the Panipat district, stated that the suspect was in contact with certain individuals in Pakistan and was providing them with sensitive information. When questioned about the specific contacts of Ilahi, Puniya remarked, "These details are part of the ongoing investigation. We have seized his mobile phone, and further inquiries are underway." Ilahi's arrest comes at a time when Haryana is on high alert following military tensions between India and Pakistan after the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam.
India-Pakistan Tensions
On May 10, an agreement was reached between India and Pakistan to cease all military actions on land, air, and sea for four days, following drone and missile attacks across the border that brought both nations to the brink of full-scale war. This arrest follows another incident where Punjab police reported the detention of two individuals, including a woman, for alleged espionage activities linked to a Pakistani official stationed at the embassy in Delhi.
