Suryakumar Yadav's Role in T20I Series

Although Suryakumar Yadav, the former captain of India's T20I team, is not currently part of the playing XI in the ongoing T20I series against the West Indies, his commitment to the team's strategies remains unwavering.

Record-Breaking Match in Ranchi

The second T20I match held in Ranchi turned into a high-scoring spectacle, with over 500 runs scored in just 38.3 overs. The West Indies achieved a remarkable chase of 250 runs, leveling the five-match series. The Indian bowlers struggled against aggressive batting and the heavy dew that affected play.

Bowling Performance Overview

Mayank Yadav led the bowling lineup with impressive figures of 3 wickets for 36 runs in three overs. In contrast, Kuldeep Yadav conceded 53 runs while taking one wicket in four overs. Other bowlers, including Arshdeep Singh (0/45), Axar Patel (0/63), Shivam Dube (0/30), and Naman Dhir (0/25), were unable to make significant contributions.

Suryakumar's Viral Strategy Session

Following India's defeat in the second T20I, Suryakumar Yadav was filmed by his wife, Devisha Shetty, as he conducted a humorous strategy session from his living room. In the video, he meticulously analyzed the remaining overs of India's bowling attack.

He stated, "One over will be bowled by Guddu (Kuldeep Yadav), one by Axar Patel, and one by Paji (Arshdeep Singh). Mayank Yadav will bowl, and the final over will be bowled by the giant, Shivam Dube."

At the time of his analysis, the West Indies were at 186/4 in 14.5 overs, needing 64 runs off 31 balls. Kuldeep Yadav was brought in to bowl the crucial 15th over as India sought a breakthrough.

Future of Suryakumar Yadav in T20Is

Currently, Suryakumar Yadav is not included in the plans for Team India across any format, as selectors are focusing on younger players. This has led him to concentrate on domestic cricket to regain his form and fitness.

The 35-year-old's last competitive outing was in the Mumbai T20 League, where he scored 163 runs, including a half-century, at an average of 40.75 over five matches. This tournament marked his return to competitive play after being excluded from the T20I squad.

Shreyas Iyer is currently leading the T20I team, with Suryakumar's middle-order position being filled by Iyer, Tilak Varma, Ishan Kishan, and Shivam Dube, making his return to the national team a challenge. Additionally, he was omitted from Mumbai's Ranji Trophy squad due to insufficient red-ball practice.

Suryakumar is anticipated to return to domestic cricket in the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in November, where he aims to demonstrate his explosive batting skills and persuade selectors to reconsider him for future white-ball matches.
