He shared an update on his Instagram, stating, "Life Update: Underwent surgery for a sports hernia in the lower right abdomen. Grateful to share that after a smooth surgery, I'm already on the road to recovery. Can't wait to be back."

Remarkable IPL Performance

The 34-year-old cricketer last played during the IPL 2025, where he significantly contributed to the Mumbai Indians' playoff journey. He set a new world record by scoring 25 or more runs in 16 consecutive innings, finishing the season with 717 runs—the highest for a Mumbai Indians player in a single season and the most by any non-opener in IPL history.

Upcoming Series Against Bangladesh

Currently, India is engaged in a five-match Test series in England, which will conclude on August 4. After this, the focus will shift to a white-ball series against Bangladesh, featuring three ODIs and three T20Is.

Suryakumar, who has not participated in ODI matches since the 2023 World Cup final, utilized this time away from international cricket to undergo surgery and recuperate. He is anticipated to return in time to lead the T20I squad in the Bangladesh series, commencing on August 26 in Chattogram.
