Suryakumar Yadav is regarded as one of the finest batsmen in Indian cricket history, often referred to as the 360-degree batter. Recently, he expressed his admiration for the impressive six-hitting prowess of young cricketer Vaibhav Suryavanshi.
In a recent appearance on the 'Humans of Bombay' YouTube channel, Suryakumar was asked which player's skill he would like to emulate. Without hesitation, he mentioned Vaibhav Suryavanshi, highlighting his effortless ability to hit sixes.
Having amassed over 9,000 runs in T20 cricket himself, Suryakumar's compliment underscores Vaibhav's remarkable talent.
Vaibhav's Record-Breaking IPL Season
Vaibhav Suryavanshi made his IPL debut in 2025, and by the 2026 season, he had taken the cricketing world by storm. He scored an impressive 776 runs that season, earning the Orange Cap, and set a new record by hitting 72 sixes in a single IPL season.
During the same interview, Suryakumar was asked about the toughest bowler he has faced. He humorously mentioned Jasprit Bumrah, noting that even though Bumrah is on his team, facing him in practice is a significant challenge.
Respect for Cricket Legends
When asked to choose between cricket icons Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar provided a thoughtful response. He shared that he was inspired to play cricket after watching Sachin, but has also played extensively under Rohit's captaincy, giving equal respect to both legends.
Suryakumar made his international debut in March 2021 during a T20 series against England and played his first ODI in July 2021. His distinctive 360-degree batting style quickly established him as a leading player in T20 cricket. Following Rohit Sharma's retirement from T20s after the 2024 T20 World Cup, the BCCI appointed Suryakumar as the permanent T20 captain. He is now eager to regain his classic form amidst a competitive squad.
