Surya Charishma and Tanvi Patri to Compete in Women's Singles Final at National Badminton Championships
Women's Singles Semifinals
In an exciting showdown at the Senior National Badminton Championships held in Vijayawada, local favorite Surya Charishma Tamiri and rising star Tanvi Patri have advanced to the women's singles final. Both players secured their spots after intense matches, as reported by the Badminton Association of India (BAI).
Surya Charishma, who previously defeated the top seed Unnati Hooda in the quarterfinals, triumphed over world number 45 Rakshita Sree R with scores of 21-18, 18-21, and 21-9. Meanwhile, Tanvi Patri made a remarkable comeback after losing the first game to beat Maharashtra's Shruti Mundada, finishing with scores of 18-21, 21-12, and 21-15, marking their first appearance in the senior nationals finals.
Men's Singles Semifinals
In the men's singles semifinals, Rithvik Sanjeevi S, the 2024 Odisha Masters champion, saved a match point to defeat top seed Kiran George in a thrilling match that lasted one hour and eight minutes, with scores of 21-16, 17-21, and 22-20. Rithvik will face Bharat Raghav in the final, who overcame second seed M Tharun with scores of 21-17, 11-21, and 21-11 in 55 minutes.
Mixed Doubles Semifinals
In the mixed doubles semifinals, the top-seeded duo of Ashith Surya and Amrutha P rallied after a tough start to defeat the third seeds Deep Rambhiya and Sonali Mirkhelkar with scores of 8-21, 21-18, and 21-18. The second seeds, Sathwik Reddy K and Radhika Sharma, also advanced by defeating Nitin Kumar and Kanika Kanwal with scores of 21-13 and 21-14.
Women's Doubles Finals
The women's doubles final will feature a matchup between former national champions. The third-seeded pair of Shikha Gautam and Ashwini Bhat K defeated Vennala K and Reshika U with scores of 21-11 and 21-15. In another semifinal, the second seeds Priya Devi KOnjengban and Shruti Mishra triumphed over eighth seeds Aparna Balan and Simran Singhi with scores of 21-19 and 21-14.
