Prime Minister Modi Meets Plane Crash Survivor

On June 13, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, the only survivor of the tragic Air India plane crash. Ramesh, a British citizen of Indian descent, is currently recuperating from his injuries at a hospital in Ahmedabad.

During their encounter, Ramesh shared the traumatic experience he endured alongside his brother, Ajay Kumar Rakesh, who unfortunately did not survive the incident.

He recounted, “My brother was seated in a different section and didn’t make it. I am still in disbelief that I escaped.”

Ramesh described the terrifying moments leading up to the crash, stating, “I thought I was going to die. The chaos, the sound, the flames were all around me. I managed to find a small opening to get out.”

He elaborated on the moments before the crash, saying, “After takeoff, the plane seemed to stall for a moment before it nosedived and collided with the building. I was seated on the side opposite to the impact, which likely saved my life.”

Despite his injuries, Ramesh was seen walking away from the wreckage and mentioned that he is receiving excellent medical attention.

Prime Minister Modi also visited the Civil Hospital, where he spoke with several other crash victims, many of whom are students from BJ Medical College.

The hostel that was struck by the aircraft was occupied by young MBBS students, many of whom were caught off guard during lunch when the plane crashed.

The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner was headed to London when it crashed shortly after departing from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on Thursday, hitting the BJ Medical College hostel located just 3 kilometers from the airport.

The incident occurred around 1:30 PM, coinciding with lunchtime for the medical students.

In response to the tragedy, authorities have initiated a large-scale rescue and identification effort. The process of returning bodies to their families has commenced, while investigators are meticulously examining the wreckage to uncover the reasons behind this devastating aviation disaster.
