Rising COVID-19 Cases in India

The number of COVID-19 infections in India is witnessing a resurgence. As of Wednesday morning, the active cases have surged to 1,047 across the nation.


In Maharashtra, 66 new cases have been reported, while Uttar Pradesh has recorded 10 additional infections. The death toll due to the virus has now reached 11 nationwide. In response, health authorities have begun preparations to tackle the situation, with several states issuing guidelines to hospitals.


State-Specific Updates

The Union Health Ministry shared data up to May 26, indicating that the number of active cases had risen from 1,010. Maharashtra reported 66 cases, with Mumbai alone accounting for 31 of these. The total number of cases in the city has now reached 325, prompting hospitals to enforce stricter measures. Preparations are underway to ensure that all health facilities remain operational, including the establishment of a 15-bed isolation ward at JJ Hospital in Mumbai.


In Uttar Pradesh, there are currently 36 active cases, with Ghaziabad also seeing an increase in infections. The total number of cases in Ghaziabad has reached 14, including one hospitalized patient and a four-month-old infant who tested positive. Additionally, Rajasthan has reported a resurgence, with seven new cases in recent days, including one newborn affected by the virus.
