Commemorating Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel

Shimla: Suresh Kashyap, the former president of the BJP in the state and current Member of Parliament, took part in a Padyatra in Jubbal Kotkhai, Chela, and Theog to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

During his speech, Kashyap remarked, “India today stands before the world as a flourishing, developing, and strong nation.” He reflected on Patel’s pivotal role in unifying more than 550 princely states post-independence, which was crucial in establishing the framework of modern India. Patel's contributions facilitated the incorporation of regions such as Lakshadweep, Junagadh, and Hyderabad into the Indian Union. Kashyap also mentioned that Patel was awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1991, 41 years after his passing in 1950.

A Vision for India's Future

Kashyap stressed the collective commitment of the Indian populace to realize the Prime Minister’s ambition of transforming India into a fully developed nation by 2047. He expressed confidence that by that time, India would emerge as a global leader across various sectors, with Prime Minister Modi embodying Patel’s vision and ideals.

Pointing out India's demographic advantage, Kashyap noted that 65% of the population is under 35 years old, marking a significant opportunity for national advancement. He commended the government’s initiative “MY Bharat” (Mera Yuva Bharat), which was launched on October 31, 2023, coinciding with Patel’s birth anniversary and National Unity Day.

This initiative, overseen by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, aims to empower the youth by directing their energy towards nation-building. It connects young individuals with opportunities in volunteering, experiential learning, leadership, and skill development through a technology-driven approach that integrates governance, innovation, and public engagement.
