Supreme Court's Ruling on ED Officials' FIRs
The national spokesperson for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Pradeep Bhandari, expressed his approval of the Supreme Court's decision to suspend all FIRs against Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials involved in the I-PAC raid case in Kolkata until the next hearing on February 3. In a social media post, he remarked that the Supreme Court's ruling is a significant blow to the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC government. The court has placed a stay on the FIRs filed by the West Bengal police against the ED officials, labeling the police's actions as prima facie 'illegal'. Bhandari emphasized that Mamata Banerjee's attempts to portray herself as a victim have failed, as her corrupt ties with the TMC and private companies are being exposed!
This development comes amid ongoing controversies following the ED's raid on the I-PAC office in Kolkata. Senior state officials and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had previously attempted to obstruct this operation. Earlier, the ED had filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking the immediate suspension of senior West Bengal police officials and the initiation of departmental proceedings against them. In its application for directives, the ED requested the court to suspend the police officers present during the search operation on January 8. The agency also sought instructions for the Personnel and Training Department and the Ministry of Home Affairs to initiate departmental investigations and impose strict penalties against the involved officials.
