Supreme Court Decision on Delhi Government's Cases

New Delhi: On Friday, the Supreme Court granted permission for the Delhi government to retract seven legal cases initiated by the previous AAP administration against the Central government and the Lieutenant Governor. These cases primarily revolved around the governance of services in the capital.

The bench, which included Chief Justice B R Gavai and Justice Agustine George Masih, acknowledged the arguments presented by Additional Solicitor General Aishwarya Bhati, representing the ruling BJP government, and subsequently approved the withdrawal request.

During the proceedings, a lawyer highlighted the issue of outstanding payments owed to advocates who were engaged during the AAP's tenure.

The law officer assured the court that all outstanding fees would be settled promptly.

The request to withdraw these contentious cases was made on May 22 by the former AAP-led Delhi government.
