Sunrisers Hyderabad Coach Praises Nitish Kumar Reddy's Versatility Ahead of Home Game
Vettori Commends Reddy's All-Round Abilities
Daniel Vettori, the head coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), expressed high regard for all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy, noting his eagerness to contribute in various aspects of the game. Vettori highlighted Reddy's capability to bowl at any point during a match.
Speaking to the press before the upcoming match against Lucknow Super Giants in Hyderabad, Vettori remarked, "Nitish wasn't able to bowl last season due to an injury, which limited our options. However, he is a player who desires to be involved in every facet of the game. When that opportunity is taken away, it can impact a player. We've seen the exciting all-round talent he showcased in India a few years back, and now he has the chance to demonstrate that again."
SRH's Recent Performance
The Sunrisers began their IPL 2026 journey with a loss to the reigning champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), but bounced back with a convincing 65-run victory over Kolkata Knight Riders. As they prepare for their first home match of the season, Vettori is optimistic about Reddy's bowling skills.
Reddy's Bowling Flexibility
"One of the advantages of having Reddy is his ability to bowl at any stage of the match. This flexibility allows us to strategize based on the opponent and the match conditions. His performance during crucial middle overs has been vital, especially when it was challenging to reintroduce spin at that time," Vettori explained.
Reddy's Impactful Wickets
At just 22 years old, Reddy has bowled two overs in each of the matches so far, claiming two significant wickets against KKR at Eden Gardens, dismissing Anukul Roy and Rinku Singh. Vettori commented on these achievements, stating, "Those were two crucial wickets, and Reddy is gaining confidence in his abilities. He is a dedicated professional who prepares thoroughly for every scenario, whether with bat or ball. We witnessed his best performance in the last game, underscoring his importance to our team."
