Sunjay Kapur, a well-known industrialist and former spouse of actress Karisma Kapoor, has died at the age of 53 in the United Kingdom. Reports indicate that he suffered a heart attack while engaged in a polo match. His funeral, initially postponed due to citizenship complications, is now set to take place in New Delhi today (June 19). According to sources, the repatriation of his remains required additional documentation and approvals before they could be returned to India.

A prayer meeting is scheduled for June 22 at the Taj Palace Hotel in Delhi from 4 to 5 PM. Sunjay Kapur was the chairman of Sona Comstar and held a significant position in the automotive sector. He also served as the Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Northern Region, overseeing operations in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and three Union Territories.


Personal Life and Legacy

In his personal life, Kapur was first married to designer Nandita Mahtani, but their marriage ended after two years. He then married Karisma Kapoor in 2003, with whom he shares two children. Their divorce occurred in 2016, yet they maintained a cooperative parenting relationship. Following his separation from Kapoor, he married model Priya Sachdev, and the couple welcomed a son shortly after their wedding.
