Sunjay Kapur, a well-known industrialist and former spouse of actress Karisma Kapoor, has died at the age of 53 in the United Kingdom. Reports indicate that he suffered a heart attack while engaged in a polo match. His last post on social media, shared on June 9, has garnered significant attention from users online. Just hours before his passing, Kapur expressed his condolences regarding a tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad. He posted, "Terrible news of the tragic Air India crash in Ahmedabad. My thoughts and prayers are with all the families affected. May they find strength in this difficult hour. #planecrash."
Sunjay Kapur was the chairman of Sona Comstar and a significant figure in the automotive sector. He also held the position of Chairman for the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Northern Region, overseeing operations in several states and Union Territories.
Initially married to designer Nandita Mahtani, he divorced after two years. He later married Karisma Kapoor in 2003, with whom he shares two children. Their divorce occurred in 2016, but they maintained a cooperative parenting relationship. Following his separation from Kapoor, he married model Priya Sachdev, and they welcomed a son shortly after their wedding.
