Star spinner Sunil Narine of the Kolkata Knight Riders has made history by entering the 200-wicket club in the Indian Premier League (IPL), becoming the third bowler ever to achieve this feat on Sunday. A long-time player for the Kolkata Knight Riders, Narine is the first to reach this milestone while representing a single franchise. Additionally, he is the first international bowler to join the 200-wicket club.
Currently, Narine boasts 201 wickets from 197 matches, maintaining an impressive average of 25.53, which includes a five-wicket haul. He ranks as the third-highest wicket-taker in IPL history, trailing only Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Yuzvendra Chahal.
Narine reached this significant milestone during the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Hyderabad on May 3, where he recorded figures of 2/31, contributing to SRH's total of 165 runs.
A Decorated KKR Career
Since his debut in 2012, Narine has been a vital part of KKR's bowling lineup, known for his control, economical bowling, and knack for taking crucial wickets at key moments.
Throughout his tenure, Narine has amassed an impressive record with the franchise, playing a pivotal role in KKR's championship victories in 2012, 2014, and 2024. He earned the MVP (Most Valuable Player) award in both 2012 and 2018, and also claimed the Purple Cap in 2012, highlighting his significant contributions to the team.
