Sudarsan Pattnaik Unveils Stunning Sand Sculpture for FIFA World Cup 2026 Final
A Grand Sand Sculpture at Puri Beach
Famed sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has crafted an impressive 8-foot tall sand sculpture representing the FIFA World Cup 2026 trophy. This artwork, located at Puri beach in Odisha, showcases the national flags of Spain and Argentina, accompanied by the message, 'FIFA World Cup 2026 - Good Luck For Final,' in anticipation of the upcoming final match between the two teams on Monday (IST). Pattnaik also sculpted a figure of Lionel Messi, one of football's most celebrated players, with the inscription 'We Love MESSI.' The creation utilized nearly 7 tons of sand, with assistance from students at his sand art institution.
Wishing Both Teams Good Luck
In an interview, Pattnaik expressed that the sand sculpture of the FIFA World Cup trophy was designed to extend good wishes to both Spain and Argentina ahead of the final. He noted the global anticipation surrounding the title match and emphasized that his artwork at Puri Beach conveys heartfelt wishes to both teams. 'Good luck for the FIFA World Cup final. We have created this 8-ft-high sand sculpture of the golden trophy, which everyone is eager to see lifted. This special sculpture carries the message, 'Good Luck.' We wish both teams the best for this final match,' Pattnaik stated.
Honoring a Football Icon
Pattnaik also mentioned that the sculpture of Lionel Messi was created as a tribute to the football icon, wishing both Argentina and Spain success. He highlighted the immense popularity of football in eastern India, where fans are eagerly awaiting the World Cup final. 'We have also sculpted Messi, a legend in world football, with the message, 'We Love Messi,' as he continues to captivate fans globally with his extraordinary skills,' he remarked. 'We created both sculptures to wish both teams good luck, and we encourage everyone to watch the match, especially since football is passionately followed in eastern India.'
