On Monday, Suchika achieved a milestone by becoming the first Indian to earn an MMA medal at the Asian Games, finishing third in the women's traditional 60 kg category after a semifinal loss to Singapore's Teo Hui Hoon.

Support from Family Fuels Confidence

In an interview on Thursday, Suchika expressed gratitude towards her parents, family, and husband Kapil Hooda for their steadfast encouragement throughout her athletic journey. She noted that their belief in her abilities has significantly boosted her confidence and determination.

At 36, Suchika remains passionate about her sport, stating, "If you love what you do, never give up. I still feel capable of achieving more. My family's support has been crucial, especially before my marriage. My parents have always been there for me, and after marrying Kapil, his belief in me has been a great source of strength."

Suchika's coach, Nikhil Kunder, believes that her bronze medal will inspire a new wave of fighters and help elevate the profile of MMA in India. He hopes for increased government support, highlighting the potential of many talented athletes in the country.

Suchika's father, Rajender Singh Tadiyal, expressed immense pride in her accomplishment, stating, "Her hard work has paid off, and she has made her dreams a reality by winning a medal for our country."

Her mother, Lajwanti Tariyal, shared the family's joy, noting that Suchika's achievement as the first Indian woman to win an MMA medal at the Asian Games fulfilled a long-held dream. Kapil Hooda, Suchika's husband, also celebrated her achievement, remarking on the significance of winning a medal in the sport's debut at the Asian Games.
