Successful Trial Run of Namo Bharat Trains Marks Milestone for NCRTC

Namo Bharat Trains Complete Trial Run

Commuters have reason to celebrate as the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has successfully conducted a trial run of the Namo Bharat trains along the entire corridor from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Modipuram in Meerut. Impressively, the train completed the 82 km journey in under an hour.

During this trial, the Meerut Metro trains operated concurrently with the Namo Bharat trains, marking a successful test for the system. This trial run on India's inaugural Namo Bharat corridor is a crucial step in improving regional connectivity, which links Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut.

The Namo Bharat trains achieved their maximum operational speed of 160 km per hour while covering the 82 km distance, stopping at each station along the route. This performance met the schedule set by NCRTC.

This corridor features the world's first implementation of an advanced ETCS Level 3 hybrid signalling system over an LTE backbone, which is integrated with platform screen doors (PSDs) at every station.

Operational Sections and Future Developments

55KM Section Now Open

Currently, a 55 km segment of the corridor, comprising 11 stations, is operational for passengers. Ongoing finishing touches are being applied to the 4.5 km stretch between Sarai Kale Khan and New Ashok Nagar in Delhi, as well as the approximately 23 km stretch from Meerut South to Modipuram.
