The incident occurred around 4 P.M. on Friday when Gurkaran, son of laborers Harinder and Asha, fell into the borewell. After extensive rescue efforts, he was safely extracted at approximately 12:40 A.M. and promptly taken to a hospital for medical assessment.

Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain and SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik oversaw the rescue operation, praising the collaborative efforts of all teams that contributed to the child's safe recovery.

Following the successful rescue, Deputy Commissioner Jain confirmed that Gurkaran was transported to the hospital in an ambulance, accompanied by medical personnel for further evaluation.

Reports indicate that Gurkaran fell into an open borewell located next to his home, which had been dug just a day prior.

Rescue teams excavated a parallel pit over 30 feet deep next to the borewell, creating a narrow passage to reach the trapped child. After careful excavation, they successfully pulled him out.

Officials noted that Gurkaran was trapped at a depth of nearly 30 feet within the borewell.

To expedite the rescue, heavy machinery and specialized equipment were deployed. A camera and oxygen pipe were also inserted into the borewell to monitor the child's condition and provide oxygen during the operation.

The Deputy Commissioner highlighted that over 40 members of the National Disaster Response Force played a crucial role in the operation, utilizing their technical skills to ensure a safe rescue.

Punjab's Minister for Jails, Ravjot Singh, and Hoshiarpur Lok Sabha MP, Raj Kumar Chabbewal, were present throughout the operation.

SSP Malik expressed gratitude to the rescue teams for their successful efforts in bringing Gurkaran to safety.
