Nalbari District Implements Election Restrictions


Nalbari, March 21: Following the announcement of the Assam Assembly election schedule by the Election Commission of India, Nibedan Das Patowary, the district magistrate of Nalbari, has enforced a series of restrictions under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanghita, which will apply throughout the district.


The directive prohibits gatherings of five or more individuals in public areas, including main roads, highways, and government offices within Nalbari. Marching on main streets is also banned, along with the use of firecrackers in public spaces.


Additionally, carrying explosives, sticks, stones, bricks, weapons, and similar items in public is strictly forbidden. The organization of sit-ins, satyagrahas, and rallies in front of government offices is also restricted.


Furthermore, no banners or posters may be displayed on walls or government properties. The use of loudspeakers or microphones for announcing bandhs, protests, or chanting slogans is prohibited.


The order also includes a ban on pillion riding on two-wheelers. These restrictions will remain in effect until further notice.
