Engaging Dialogue on Strategic Partnership


On May 30, in New Delhi, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Deputy National Security Advisor Pavan Kapoor engaged with business leaders during a roundtable organized by the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) in the United States.


The Indian Embassy in Washington, DC, shared on its X account that the discussions were fruitful, focusing on the significance of collaboration between government, academia, and industry to enhance critical and emerging technologies in defense and strategic sectors, which are vital for evolving the partnership into the 21st century.


Following the meeting, USISPF expressed satisfaction in hosting a private roundtable with the two prominent Indian officials.


The dialogue aimed at strengthening U.S.-India collaboration in critical and emerging technologies under the TRUST initiative, which seeks to foster a secure, transparent, and resilient innovation ecosystem through enhanced partnerships among government, industry, and academia.


Foreign Secretary Misri's visit to the U.S. spanned three days (May 27-29) and occurred amidst tensions regarding U.S. President Donald Trump's claims of mediating a ceasefire between India and Pakistan. The visit concluded with discussions centered on bilateral trade, critical technologies, and defense.


During his trip, Misri also met with Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau and Under Secretary of Commerce Jeffrey Kessler.


According to a media release from the U.S. Department of State, Deputy Secretary Landau reaffirmed the strong partnership between the U.S. and India, highlighting its significance in U.S. foreign policy for the 21st century. He stressed the need for fair and reciprocal market access to promote economic growth and prosperity in both nations.


Additionally, the Deputy Secretary underscored the importance of enhanced cooperation on migration and counternarcotics.


Both officials reiterated their commitment to maintaining regional stability and peace, as stated by the State Department.
