New Delhi, August 8 - On Saturday, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance reached out to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss enhancing the extensive global strategic partnership between India and the United States, particularly in the realms of trade, defense, and energy security amidst escalating tensions in West Asia. The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration in emerging technologies and critical minerals.

This call from Vance to Modi came after a defense agreement was signed between Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan, which is perceived as a sign of a new regional alliance amid ongoing conflicts in West Asia. Modi shared on social media platform 'X', stating, “I had a conversation with U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance. We discussed ways to further strengthen the comprehensive global strategic partnership between India and the U.S.”

Modi also extended his congratulations to Vance and his wife Usha on the birth of their son, wishing the entire family well. A statement from the Indian side noted that Modi and Vance reviewed the progress made in the India-U.S. strategic partnership. The statement emphasized their commitment to enhancing cooperation in trade, defense, emerging technologies, energy security, and critical minerals.
