State-Level Family Welfare Awards Celebrate Population Day Achievements

On World Population Day, Rajasthan celebrated exemplary contributions to family welfare by honoring various organizations and individuals with state-level awards. The event, led by Principal Secretary Mrs. Gayatri Rathore, highlighted the state's achievements in controlling population growth and improving health services. Awards were presented to districts, panchayats, and health institutions for their outstanding performance, emphasizing the importance of accessible healthcare and effective management of resources. This recognition not only showcases the state's commitment to family welfare but also encourages continued efforts in health and education for sustainable development.

Celebrating Family Welfare Excellence


In Jaipur, on the occasion of World Population Day, various organizations including panchayat samitis, gram panchayats, and both government and private institutions were honored with state-level family welfare awards for their outstanding contributions. The event, presided over by Principal Secretary of the Medical and Health Department, Mrs. Gayatri Rathore, took place at the Health Bhawan on Saturday, where winners were virtually recognized with cash prizes and certificates. Officials and staff from the winning districts participated via video conferencing.


During her address, the Principal Secretary congratulated all the award-winning teams under the Family Welfare Incentive Award Scheme. She noted that the state government's continuous efforts have successfully controlled the population growth rate. Rajasthan's total fertility rate stands at 2.1, aligning with the targeted level for population stabilization. The state also leads in the use of modern contraceptive methods, with a rate of 57.1%, surpassing the national average of 52.7%.


She emphasized the importance of ensuring that all medical health services are accessible to every individual at the institutional level. Proper utilization of available resources is essential to truly understand the objectives of Population Day, which should contribute to the development of the state and the nation. Education and health must be prioritized.


Mrs. Rathore also highlighted the need for effective management of seasonal diseases. She stated that necessary examinations, vaccinations, and access to family welfare methods for every pregnant woman should be timely and well-managed at the institutional level.


Recognition for Outstanding Achievements


During the state-level ceremony, districts, panchayats, health institutions, and health personnel that excelled during the year 2024-25 were honored in various categories.


Under the institutional award scheme for outstanding performance in family welfare programs, Chittorgarh district received the first prize of ₹18 lakh, followed by Sikar with ₹11 lakh for second place, Kota with ₹9 lakh for third, and Karauli with ₹5 lakh for fourth. Notably, districts that had previously received awards in this area were only given certificates for their continued excellence, including Banswara, Bhilwara, Pratapgarh, Jhalawar, Baran, Ajmer, Bhiwani, and Bundi.


For exceptional achievements in PPIUCD services, Banswara was awarded ₹4 lakh for first place, Pratapgarh received ₹3 lakh for second, and Nagaur was awarded ₹2 lakh for third. The district of Salumber, which had previously received awards, was only given a certificate for its continued excellence.


In the best panchayat samiti category, Itawa (Kota district) received the first prize of ₹8 lakh, Balotra panchayat samiti was awarded ₹7 lakh for second place, Phalodi received ₹6 lakh for third, and Dholpur panchayat samiti was awarded ₹2 lakh for fourth.


In the best gram panchayat category, Harrajaura (Masuuda panchayat samiti, Beawar district) received ₹5 lakh for first place, Khedki Veerbhanu (Kotputli-Bahrod) received ₹4 lakh for second, Thikriya Kala (Taledha, Bundi) received ₹3 lakh for third, and Bhojasar (Bhadra, Hanumangarh) received ₹1 lakh for fourth. In the best government health institution category, the Primary Health Center in Genta (Kota), Community Health Center in Neemrana (Kotputli-Bahrod), and Sub-District Hospital in Rawatbhata (Chittorgarh) were each awarded ₹1 lakh.


In the best private hospital category, Raj Hospital in Jodhpur was recognized, while the best NGO award went to Unshad Paramedical Foundation in Jhalawar and FRHS India in Jaipur. The best Asha Block award was given to Taledha (Bundi).


In individual awards, LHV Asha Verma (Sub-District Hospital, Bhawanimandi, Jhalawar) received the state-level first prize for motivating the most individuals for sterilization. Madhu Srivastava (Bikaner) and Sarita Kumari (Jaipur) were jointly honored in the ANM category. Asha Sahyogini Kaushalya Devi (Hanumangarh), Asha Sharma (Jaipur), and Santosh Devi (Ajmer) were recognized for their significant contributions to family welfare. Dr. Sahab Singh Meena (SDH, Bayana, Bharatpur), who performed the highest number of sterilization operations in the state, was also honored.


Initially, Mission Director of NHM, Dr. Jogaram welcomed the Principal Secretary and briefed her on the ongoing activities related to the family welfare program.


The event was attended by senior officials including Additional Mission Director of NHM and Director IEC Dr. T. Shubhamangala, Director of Public Health Dr. Ravi Prakash Sharma, Director of AACH Dr. Madhu Ratewar, and Director of AIDS Dr. Sushil Kumar Parmar, along with officials from the districts connected via VC.
