St. Vivekananda English Academy Prepares for SVEA MUN 2.0 Conference
SVEA MUN 2.0: A Platform for Young Leaders
St. Vivekananda English Academy is set to host the second edition of its Model United Nations conference, known as SVEA MUN 2.0. This event is organized in collaboration with a prominent English daily from North-East India.
The journey began in 2023 when a group of enthusiastic students, who had participated in various MUNs, decided to initiate one at their own school. Their dedication led to the successful launch of SVEA MUN 2023, marking the first international MUN in North East India.
The inaugural conference attracted over 180 delegates, reflecting the institution's strong reputation and receiving positive feedback. Additionally, the event partnered with the UNHCR to provide UN-accredited certificates through the 'Model UN Refugee Challenge'.
In 2026, the students are once again collaborating to replicate the success of the previous event. SVEA MUN 2.0 is expected to be a high-quality conference, featuring experienced Executive Board Members and delegates from Guwahati, Jorhat, and Dibrugarh.
The conference will feature four engaging committees, each addressing significant global issues:
- United Nations Security Council (UNSC): Addressing rising global tensions and preventing wider regional conflicts in the Middle East.
- United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC): Discussing the effects of mass surveillance on human rights and strategies to protect the right to privacy.
- Lok Sabha: Evaluating reforms in criminal laws, focusing on communal tensions, hate speech, and politically motivated offenses while upholding democratic values.
- International Press Corps (IPC): Highlighting the role of journalists and photojournalists in documenting the debates and discussions within the committees.

SVEA MUN 2.0 aims to build on the achievements of 2023 and elevate standards within the MUN circuit. This initiative underscores the institution's commitment to preparing students for life beyond academics.
While we often form opinions based on superficial knowledge, MUNs provide a platform for enhancing public speaking skills and fostering a deeper understanding of pressing issues among the youth, who are the catalysts for change.
A new chapter in the illustrious journey of St. Vivekananda English Academy will commence on April 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. SVEA MUN 2.0 is a youth-led initiative designed for the youth.
