Sri Lanka Urges Diplomatic Solutions Amid Escalating Israel-Iran Tensions

Sri Lanka's Call for Peace

Colombo: On Monday, Sri Lanka emphasized the importance of diplomacy to ease the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran, particularly in light of recent US military actions.

In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the country expressed deep concern regarding the unfolding events in the Middle East. The statement urged all involved parties to take decisive actions aimed at reducing tensions.

The Ministry further stated, "It is crucial for all stakeholders to return to the negotiating table and engage in robust diplomatic initiatives to foster peace and ensure stability in the Middle East region."

This call for dialogue comes after the US conducted strikes on Iran's Fordow, Isfahan, and Natanz nuclear facilities, targeting the nation's nuclear ambitions.

US President Donald Trump confirmed the successful military operation against the three sites and cautioned that further strikes could follow if Iran responds.
