New Delhi, September 15: Travelers on two SpiceJet flights from Delhi to Dubai experienced extensive delays, with one flight stuck on the tarmac for over 24 hours, prompting protests at the Delhi airport on Tuesday, according to reports.

As reported by a news outlet, Flight SG 5111, which was supposed to take off at 7:45 am on Monday, faced multiple delays and had yet to depart at the time of the report.

Flight tracking service Flightradar24 indicated that this flight was ultimately cancelled.

Another flight, SG 5105, scheduled for a 6:45 pm departure on Monday, was postponed until Tuesday afternoon.

Passengers expressed frustration over the lack of timely updates from the airline regarding their flights.

Social media platforms showcased viral videos of stranded travelers sitting on the terminal floor, demanding information about their delayed flights.

Sources revealed that airport authorities provided food and refreshments to the affected passengers while assisting them during the disruption.

One user on X shared, “Passengers at Delhi airport protested after two SpiceJet flights to Dubai faced delays exceeding twenty-four hours due to operational issues. Stranded travelers waited on terminal floors while authorities offered food and refreshments.”

SpiceJet attributed the delays to operational challenges following the grounding of one of its aircraft.

In a statement, the airline noted, "SpiceJet flights SG 5111 and SG 5105, operating from Delhi to Dubai, have been delayed due to operational reasons following the grounding of an aircraft."

The airline also mentioned that alternative flights were being arranged for the affected passengers and apologized for the inconvenience.

This month has seen several flight operations disrupted due to adverse weather and technical issues.

For instance, an Air India flight (AI431) was diverted to Lucknow on Sunday due to poor weather and visibility conditions.

Similarly, a flight from Bhopal to Delhi on September 13 had to divert to Jaipur due to a technical issue, following established procedures.
