SpiceJet Flight Returns to Delhi Due to Technical Glitch
SpiceJet Flight SG121 Returns Safely
New Delhi, Feb 24: A SpiceJet aircraft, carrying approximately 150 passengers, safely returned to Delhi Airport shortly after takeoff on Tuesday due to a reported technical issue.
All passengers were safely disembarked upon landing back at Delhi Airport.
The Boeing 737, which was operating flight SG121 from Delhi to Leh, turned around just minutes after departure when the crew identified a potential technical problem.
According to a spokesperson for the airline, "A SpiceJet flight from Delhi to Leh on February 24 had to return to Delhi after encountering a technical issue."
"The aircraft landed safely in Delhi, and all passengers were deplaned without incident. There was no fire warning in the cockpit," the spokesperson clarified.
Sources at the airport indicated that the aircraft may have experienced an engine-related issue, possibly involving the second engine.
In a previous incident in November, a SpiceJet flight from Mumbai to Kolkata had to make an emergency landing due to an engine failure, but all passengers and crew were unharmed, as confirmed by Kolkata Airport officials.
On November 9, SpiceJet flight SG 670 encountered a technical issue during its descent into Kolkata but landed safely, allowing all passengers and crew to deplane normally, according to a SpiceJet statement.
Earlier, on September 12, a SpiceJet Q400 flight from Kandla to Mumbai also made an emergency landing at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport after an outer wheel was discovered on the runway post-takeoff, with all onboard safe.
Additionally, in October, another SpiceJet flight bound for Patna returned to Delhi shortly after takeoff due to a technical issue. Flight SG 497, a Boeing 737, landed safely back in Delhi, and passengers were deplaned without any issues. The airline arranged an alternate aircraft for the passengers.
