Enhanced Train Services for Holiday Travelers

Aizawl, Dec 19: K Vanlalvena, the sole Rajya Sabha representative from Mizoram, announced on Thursday that the Ministry of Railways has initiated special train services to facilitate travel between Guwahati and Aizawl, addressing the significant travel challenges faced by passengers during the Christmas season.

In a media briefing, Vanlalvena explained that these additional train services were introduced to accommodate the surge of travelers heading to Mizoram and nearby regions for the festive celebrations. The schedule includes a special train departing from Guwahati on Monday, which will return from Aizawl via Sairang railway station on Tuesday. Another train is set to leave Guwahati on Wednesday and return from Aizawl on Thursday. Each of these special trains will consist of 14 coaches.

The MP emphasized that these special services would greatly assist passengers traveling from Guwahati, Delhi, and other areas who have struggled to secure confirmed tickets due to a severe shortage of seats on regular trains. He encouraged those unable to make reservations on standard services to take advantage of the additional Guwahati–Aizawl trains.

Vanlalvena also mentioned his efforts to bring this issue to the attention of the Rajya Sabha, highlighting the difficulties faced by residents of Mizoram and neighboring Manipur due to the limited seating on trains connecting Aizawl with major cities like Guwahati, Delhi, and Kolkata. He pointed out that this issue becomes particularly pressing during the Christmas season.
