Arrest of Prosecutor in Bribery Case

A special public prosecutor has been apprehended by anti-corruption officials for allegedly accepting a bribe in exchange for presenting a 'better argument' in a pending Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe atrocity case at a local court. This information was confirmed by the authorities.

The case was initiated following a complaint lodged by a resident of Kandanuli village in Vikarabad district, Telangana, named Naveen. The complaint accused the appointed advocate, serving as the special public prosecutor (SPP), of soliciting a bribe.

According to officials, Rajamahendra G., who is functioning as the SPP at the Second Additional District and Sessions Judge court in Kalaburagi, demanded a bribe of ₹50,000 in return for presenting a 'better argument' in an atrocity case. The anti-corruption officials revealed that the accused had already received ₹20,000 from the complainant and was requesting the remaining amount.

In response to the complaint, the anti-corruption team set up a sting operation on Tuesday morning, during which the accused allegedly accepted ₹25,000 in cash. He was caught red-handed while receiving the bribe, and ₹25,000 in cash was recovered from him. Authorities have stated that the investigation is ongoing.
