South Delhi Superstarz Triumph Over New Delhi Tigers in DPL 2025 Thriller
Tigers Post Competitive Total Despite Early Challenges
In the ongoing Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025, the New Delhi Tigers set a challenging target of 197 runs, but it wasn't enough to secure a win against the South Delhi Superstarz, who chased it down successfully by three wickets with just one ball to spare.
Batting first, the Tigers managed to score 196 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. Opener Dhruv Kaushik anchored the innings with a solid 65 runs off 41 balls, while Parth Bali contributed 26 runs from 26 balls. The middle order maintained the momentum, with Vaibhav Rawal adding 22 runs off 17 balls.
Deepak Punia played a crucial role in the final overs, smashing a quickfire 54 runs off just 24 balls, including two massive sixes in the last over, pushing the team close to the 200-run mark. Aman Bharti was the standout bowler for the Superstarz, taking 3 wickets for 31 runs in four overs, while Himanshu Chauhan and Sumit Kumar Beniwal each claimed one wicket but conceded runs in the later stages.
Superstarz Overcome Early Setback with Strong Middle Order
The Superstarz's chase began on a shaky note as opener Kunwar Bidhuri was dismissed for a mere 6 runs, putting the team under pressure. However, the middle order responded effectively.
Anmol Sharma emerged as the star performer, scoring an impressive 79 runs off 52 balls, featuring seven boundaries and four sixes. His calm demeanor during the middle overs kept the required run rate manageable. Tejasvi Dahiya also made a significant impact, scoring 72 runs off just 38 balls, including three fours and five sixes, ensuring the Superstarz remained in control.
Rahul Chaudhary's Hat-Trick Creates Tension in Final Overs
As the Superstarz needed 12 runs from the last over, they appeared to be on track for an easy win. However, Rahul Chaudhary turned the match on its head by taking three wickets in consecutive deliveries, dismissing Anmol Sharma, Sumit Mathur, and Gulzar Sandhu, achieving a remarkable hat-trick.
Despite this, a crucial boundary kept the Superstarz in contention, needing just seven runs with three balls remaining. Abhishek Khandelwal then displayed composure, hitting a six off the second last ball to secure the victory in style.
Bowling Performances
For the Tigers, Prince Yadav took 3 wickets for 41 runs in four overs, while Rahul Chaudhary's thrilling last over brought his tally to 3 for 48. Ultimately, the Superstarz managed to complete the chase, marking their first victory of the season.
