Sourav Ganguly Anticipates Strong Brazil Squad for Upcoming Friendly Match

Excitement Builds for India vs. Brazil Friendly

With just a month remaining until the international friendly match between India and Brazil, former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly has expressed admiration for Brazil's football legacy. He hopes that Brazil will arrive in India with a robust team, believing that competing against elite teams will significantly benefit Indian footballers.

The friendly match is set to take place on October 3 in Kolkata. Prior to facing Brazil, India will engage in three international friendlies against higher-ranked teams, starting with Panama on September 26 in Bengaluru, followed by matches against Brazil and Uruguay on October 3 and October 6, respectively, both in Kolkata.

Ganguly's Views on Competing with Top Teams

"Football is an incredible sport, and I truly enjoy watching it. Brazil stands out as one of the premier footballing nations globally, so I hope they bring a strong squad. Competing against superior players is essential for our footballers' growth," Ganguly remarked to reporters on Thursday.

He emphasized that the presence of Brazil, Uruguay, and Panama in Bengal represents a significant opportunity for Indian football, offering players crucial international exposure and development prospects. Ganguly also highlighted the need for such high-caliber matches to become a regular occurrence.

Importance of International Matches for India

"This is a fantastic opportunity for Indian football, and it's not just about Brazil. Uruguay and Panama are also set to play in Bengal. I hope this trend continues, as facing such teams will provide our players with invaluable experience and aid their development," Ganguly added.

These three matches will allow India to challenge themselves against World Cup-level competition, as all three visiting nations participated in the FIFA World Cup earlier this year.
