Sonia Gandhi's Health Update

Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sonia Gandhi has been admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in the national capital due to gastrointestinal issues. Hospital officials have confirmed that she is currently receiving treatment and is under medical supervision in the gastroenterology department. According to Dr. Ajay Swaroop, Chairman of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, "Sonia Gandhi, the chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party, was admitted last night (June 15, 2025) at 9:00 PM for a stomach-related issue in the surgical gastroenterology department. Her condition is stable, and doctors are closely monitoring her health."

This marks her second hospital visit within ten days. On June 7, Gandhi was also admitted to Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. That visit was described by officials as a routine check-up, following reports of minor health issues during her stay in the hilly state. Naresh Chauhan, the Chief Minister's media advisor, stated at that time that doctors had examined her and confirmed her condition was stable. However, her return to Delhi and subsequent admission to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital has raised concerns about her recurring health problems.

The Congress party has not yet released an official statement regarding this latest development. Sources within the party remain optimistic, suggesting that the hospital visit is precautionary and does not indicate any serious underlying condition. No immediate timeline has been provided for her discharge. Sonia Gandhi, a significant figure in Congress leadership, has occasionally missed public events in recent years due to health reasons. Although she has distanced herself from day-to-day politics, she continues to hold considerable influence as the CPP chairperson and serves as an important advisor within the party's senior leadership.
