Singer Sona Mohapatra's Controversial Remarks

Mumbai: Singer Sona Mohapatra has come under fire following her comments regarding Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and the current situation in Himachal Pradesh.

On Wednesday, Sona shared a screenshot of the vitriolic responses she received from social media users on her X (formerly Twitter) account.

In her post, she stated, "@buzzing_beez_, just the latest shining example of the avalanche of political abuse I’ve faced since yesterday. My suggestion to RG is genuine because proof is in the pudding, right? P.S. My reel questioning indiscriminate mining in Odisha’s hills didn’t attract this level of hate. Left? Liberal? (sic)."

Among the harsh comments were remarks like, "Ar****** like you don’t know anything about Durga. Screw you and your BJP loyalty," and, "These ‘Fu****** losers will vote for BJP and then ask RG to do the work. Why do you vote for Modi then?"

The backlash followed her challenge to Rahul Gandhi regarding his statements about restoring democracy.

She urged the Congress leader to focus on improving Himachal Pradesh, which is under his party's governance, before addressing broader democratic issues.

Sona expressed her dismay at the state of the environment in Himachal Pradesh upon her return after nine years.

In her tweet, she remarked, "Dear @RahulGandhi, before fixing democracy, could you start by fixing Himachal Pradesh? I returned after nine years and was appalled by the littered hills and polluted rivers. Transform this Congress-led state into a model of governance. Earn the people's trust, don’t just demand it."

Her comments were a direct response to Rahul Gandhi's statements regarding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the current government.

The politician had asserted that the removal of the CEC and the BJP administration would pave the way for restoring democracy in the nation.

"Gyanesh Kumar will be removed. This government will be ousted. Then the restoration of democracy will commence," he had stated.
