She was 95 years old.

Born on August 12, 1931, to Durga Prasad Borthakur and Hemilata Borthakur, she was married to the late Tulsi Govinda Baruah, who held the position of chairman at the publication group.

In remembrance of Baruah, Ritu Baruah, a director of the publication group, highlighted her significant influence in uniting the family. She expressed, “Her leadership during our Magh Bihu celebrations is something we will deeply miss, as she brought the entire family together for this occasion.”

Family members noted her role in managing household affairs and fostering a close-knit family environment.

Apart from her family commitments, Baruah was actively involved in various social and cultural initiatives. She was a founding member of Mitali Sangha, an organization dedicated to social, cultural, educational, and economic progress.

Her love for travel was well-known, and she frequently welcomed distinguished guests, including the famous wrestler and actor Dara Singh, to her home.
