Life's Ups and Downs

Life presents us with both good and bad phases. Often, circumstances can become challenging, leading people to panic and think negatively. Many tend to give up quickly. However, it is essential to handle such situations with a calm mind. By maintaining a positive outlook and carefully considering the problem, we can find solutions. Let's explore this concept through an intriguing story.

The Blind Man's Remarkable Insight

Once upon a time, during a cold season, a king set up his court in an open field to bask in the sun. Scholars, priests, and common people gathered there to present their issues. Amidst this, an unknown man approached the king, stating, 'O King, I have traveled from afar with two items. They appear identical, but one is precious while the other is worthless.'

The man then placed the two items before the king and continued, 'I have visited many kingdoms, but no one has been able to distinguish between them. One is a genuine diamond, and the other is merely a piece of glass. I challenge all the kings to identify the diamond. If they succeed, it will be theirs; if they fail, they must pay me the diamond's worth.'

The king accepted the challenge, but he could not tell the difference; both items looked exactly the same. The scholars in the court also attempted to identify the difference but failed. Then, a blind man from the crowd, who had been listening intently, stood up and requested a chance to identify the items.

The Blind Man's Discovery

The crowd mocked the blind man, but the king granted him permission. The blind man took both items in his hands and successfully identified the genuine diamond. The man who brought the diamond was astonished by the blind man's skill.

The king then asked the blind man how he discerned the real diamond. The blind man replied, 'When I held both items, one felt cold while the other felt warm. Glass heats up in the sun, but a diamond remains cool.' Everyone was left in awe, pondering why such a simple observation had eluded them.

The Moral of the Story

This story encapsulates a vital lesson. In difficult situations, we often forget to keep our minds calm. Those who maintain a tranquil mind and think positively can easily find solutions to problems. Conversely, those who become hyper and think negatively tend to overlook even the simplest solutions. Thus, a person who remains composed in adverse circumstances is like a diamond, while someone who reacts impulsively is akin to a piece of glass.
