On Saturday, the police in Ladakh filed a zero FIR against a social media influencer due to a Facebook video that allegedly contains derogatory comments about Union Home Minister Amit Shah, as reported by officials.

The FIR was lodged against Yogesh Parmar, citing violations of sections 197(1)(d) (actions against national unity), 352 (provoking a breach of peace), and 353(1) (public mischief) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), following a formal complaint at the Leh police station.

These charges could lead to penalties ranging from two to three years in prison, along with potential fines, depending on the specific legal provisions invoked.

According to the FIR, the complainant claimed that the video, disseminated via a Facebook link, includes highly offensive and hateful statements directed at the home minister.

The content is alleged to incite public unrest and disrupt social harmony, potentially fostering animosity among the populace. The initial evidence suggests that a cognizable offense has occurred under the cited sections of the BNS.

Since the incident is under the jurisdiction of the Devaraja police station in Mysuru City, Karnataka, the Leh police have registered a zero FIR and will forward the case to the appropriate local authorities for further inquiry.
