Falcons Triumph in Women's League Final
On Saturday, the SOBO Mumbai Falcons showcased a remarkable all-round performance, defeating the Aakash Tigers Mumbai Western Suburbs by 25 runs to secure the first-ever T20 Mumbai Women's League title at the renowned Wankhede Stadium. Under the leadership of captain Sayali Satghare, the Falcons successfully defended a modest total of 124 runs, marking a historic victory in the league.
Tigers Struggle in Their Chase
The Tigers started their innings cautiously but lost their captain Humairaa Kaazi for 23 runs when the score was 37. This wicket opened the floodgates for the Falcons, who took control of the match thanks to Janhvi Kate's impactful bowling performance.
Janhvi dismissed the tournament's top run-scorer, Sanika Chalke, for 18 runs and followed up by taking out Fatima Jaffer in her next over, putting the Tigers under significant pressure.
Sejal Raut tried to stabilize the innings with a resilient 23 runs, but Janhvi struck again, claiming her third wicket and leaving the Tigers at 78 for 4.
The Falcons tightened their grip on the match, as the Tigers' middle and lower order struggled to form partnerships, ultimately getting bowled out for 99 runs in 18.5 overs. After losing both openers with just 22 runs on the board, Simran Shaikh played a crucial role in stabilizing the innings, scoring 50 runs off 35 balls, including six fours and two sixes. She received solid support from Sarika Koli, who added 24 runs, while captain Sayali contributed 27 runs.
For the Tigers, Ritika Yadav was the standout bowler, taking 3 wickets for 22 runs, while Manali Dakshini and Humairaa each claimed one wicket.

Despite the loss in the final, Sanika from the Tigers emerged as the tournament's highest run-scorer, earning the Orange Cap with a total of 223 runs. Meanwhile, Falcons spinner Swara capped off a stellar campaign by winning the Purple Cap with 10 wickets.
