Political Shift in Maharashtra

In a significant political development, six Members of Parliament from the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) faction, including Omprakash Rajenimbalkar, have switched allegiance to the Shiv Sena led by Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. This move represents a considerable blow to Uddhav Thackeray's camp. Shinde characterized this event as a major strengthening of his faction, stating that there are now not just one, but six lions in their ranks. His remarks were made in the context of the alleged 'Operation Tiger' and the inclusion of these six MPs into his faction.

The MPs who have joined Shinde's faction include Sanjay Haribhau Jadhav, Bhausaheb Rajaram Wakchoure, Omprakash Bhupal Singh Nimbalkar, Sanjay Dina Patil, Sanjay Uttamrao Deshmukh, and Nagesh Bapurav Patil Ashtikar. Previously, Aditya Thackeray, a legislator from the Uddhav faction, launched a sharp critique against the rebel MPs, asserting that voters in their constituencies had rejected candidates from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and supported the opposition coalition 'India'. He accused them of abandoning the mandate due to 'greed'.

In a post on 'X', Thackeray remarked that the loyalty and integrity of the rebels are for sale, while also accusing the government of bias and misusing public funds for political purposes. This rebellion has dealt a significant blow to Uddhav Thackeray, as six out of nine Lok Sabha members from his party have defected, with two confirming their shift to Shinde's ruling faction.

Aditya Thackeray emphasized that those who are now changing sides were elected against the NDA by the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) and the 'India' coalition. Leaders from Shiv Sena (Uddhav), Congress, and the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar) campaigned for them. He stated that voters had cast their ballots against NDA candidates in favor of the 'India' coalition. He urged them to acknowledge that their greed compelled them to abandon their commitments overnight, shamelessly.
