Incident in Alappuzha District

In the coastal district of Alappuzha, Kerala, six members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have been apprehended for allegedly attacking a local leader of the Left Democratic Front (LDF). The police reported this development on Tuesday.


The incident reportedly took place around 9:15 PM on Sunday when Ramjeet, a local leader from the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)), along with his friend Renith, visited Neelamperoor Panchayat, an area where the BJP recently secured victory in local body elections.


Details of the Assault

According to the police, Ramjeet and Renith filed a complaint stating that they were stopped by six BJP workers who used abusive language, physically assaulted Ramjeet, and struck him on the head with a stick.


The complainants alleged that the attack was motivated by their presence in the panchayat area. The police confirmed the arrest of the six accused individuals.


Currently, Ramjeet is receiving treatment at Kottayam Medical College.
