Kolkata, May 31: The Siliguri Strikers have officially announced a robust men's team following the recent player draft for the upcoming Bengal Pro T20 League Season 2, set to kick off in June.
Indian fast bowler Akash Deep, who has participated in seven Test matches, has been retained as the marquee player for the men's team after the draft.
Wriddhiman Saha, who has recently taken on the role of mentor at Servotech Sports, expressed, "We have put together a well-balanced men’s squad that merges experienced players with emerging talent. This combination of youth and experience equips us to handle various situations and compete fiercely."
Representing the cricketing spirit of North Bengal, the Siliguri Strikers will cover the districts of Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar, Alipurduar, and Kalimpong. After a solid foundation in Season 1, the franchise is determined to enhance its performance this year.
Rishabh Bhatia, Director of Servotech Sports, shared his confidence in the team's lineup, stating, "Our selections showcase the potential we recognize in the players. We have assembled a strong squad capable of performing under pressure and meeting challenges head-on. I am confident this team will deliver a commendable performance and make us proud."
The men's tournament for the Bengal Pro T20 League Season 2 is set to begin on June 11 at Eden Gardens, featuring a match between last season's joint winners, Sobisco Smashers Malda and Murshidabad Kings, starting at 8 PM.
The semifinals will take place as a double-header at Eden Gardens on June 26, with matches scheduled for 1 PM and 7 PM. The grand finale will occur on June 28 at Eden Gardens, commencing at 7 PM.
In the women's league, the opening day on June 12 will also showcase double-header matches. Last season's finalists, Murshidabad Kueens, will face Harbour Diamonds at 9 AM, followed by defending champions Lux Shyam Kolkata Tigers taking on Siliguri Strikers at 1:30 PM.
The women's league will continue with double-headers until June 25, with semifinals on June 27 at JU, Salt Lake campus, and the final on June 28 at Eden Gardens starting at 1:30 PM.
