Sikandar Raza Takes the Helm for Zimbabwe
Zimbabwe Cricket has revealed a 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia, scheduled to commence on September 15 at Harare Sports Club. The matches will take place on September 15, 18, and 20. Sikandar Raza will step in as captain while the regular skipper, Richard Ngarava, is sidelined due to a lower-back injury, as stated on the Zimbabwe Cricket website.
Squad Details and Notable Returns
Both Ngarava and Tanaka Chivanga, who is recovering from an Achilles tendon injury, will not participate. Clive Madande, the wicketkeeper-batter, is also absent from the squad that faced Bangladesh in their last ODI in Harare in July. However, the team will see the return of seasoned players Brendan Taylor and Graeme Cremer. Their experience, along with that of Craig Ervine and Raza, will be crucial as they prepare to face Australia.
The top-order batting lineup will feature Brian Bennett, Ben Curran, and Innocent Kaia. Leading the pace attack will be Blessing Muzarabani, supported by Brad Evans, Newman Nyamhuri, and Ernest Masuku. The spin department will include specialists Cremer and Wellington Masakadza, while all-rounders Ryan Burl and Wessly Madhevere will add depth. Wicketkeeping responsibilities will be shared between Taylor and Tadiwanashe Marumani.

This series marks Australia's first ODI tour to Zimbabwe in over ten years. The last ODI encounter on Zimbabwean soil occurred during a tri-series with South Africa in August and September 2014. Additionally, this series is vital for Zimbabwe as they gear up for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027, which they will co-host with South Africa and Namibia.
