Following a 90-run defeat against India in the second T20I, Zimbabwe's captain Sikandar Raza expressed regret over his batting performance, acknowledging that he has let the team down. He commended the openers for their positive approach but noted that the team's inexperience and poor shot selection were detrimental.

Raza's Recent Struggles

Raza has faced challenges in T20 cricket, recording three consecutive single-digit scores. His recent performances include a mere 3 against Bangladesh, followed by scores of 4 and a duck in the initial two T20Is against India. He stated, "We were always going to be aggressive, and our openers provided a solid start. However, inexperience and shot selection have been our downfall. As captain, I feel I have not contributed enough with the bat."

Commitment to Improvement

Recognizing his underwhelming performances, Raza emphasized the need for greater contributions from himself in both batting and bowling. He committed to enhancing his performance in the upcoming matches, asserting that his runs are crucial for the team's success. "The responsibility lies with me to improve, as my team relies on my runs and bowling, which have been lacking in the last two T20 games. I will strive to turn things around, as my contributions could significantly help the team," he remarked.
