Key Changes in the Upcoming 2027 Census

An important modification has emerged regarding the upcoming 2027 census, reflecting social realities. According to the latest information, couples living together in a live-in relationship will be classified as married if they consider their relationship permanent. This change aims to provide a more accurate representation of their status in the census.

Notably, this clarification has been officially communicated for the first time through the self-enumeration portal of the census. Officials have stated that if a couple perceives their relationship as permanent, they will be included in the marital category, thereby clarifying their status in the data.

Previously, there were instances where such couples identified themselves as married, and enumerators recorded the information accordingly. However, this recognition has now been formalized, which will aid in better understanding social changes.

According to current information, the house listing process for the census will involve a total of 33 questions, covering family structure, amenities, and the status of members. This process will last for 45 days, with the first 15 days allocated for self-enumeration, followed by 30 days of data collection by enumerators visiting homes.

It is important to note that under the self-enumeration facility, the head of the family or any responsible adult member can fill out the information on the portal after mobile verification. Accurately marking the location of the house will also be essential for enumerators to verify later.

The government has clarified that no documents will be required for the information provided in the census. Enumerators will record only the information that individuals provide based on their knowledge and belief.

This entire process will be based on secure servers, ensuring that all data remains confidential. Additionally, the form filled out during self-enumeration will later be verified by enumerators to maintain data accuracy.
