Major Price Reduction for Land Rover Defender

In a noteworthy development for luxury car enthusiasts in India, the Land Rover Defender has seen a substantial price reduction of up to ₹34 lakh. This significant drop is attributed to the vehicle's local assembly, which has allowed for reduced costs.

Previously, the Defender was fully imported, incurring high import duties. However, with parts now being assembled in India, substantial tax savings have been passed on to consumers.

The starting ex-showroom price for the locally assembled Defender will now begin at ₹99 lakh. The company has commenced bookings for this luxury SUV across its 32 authorized dealerships nationwide, with deliveries set to start on November 15, 2026. The X-Dynamic HSE 2.0-liter petrol variant will be available for ₹99 lakh, making it approximately ₹14 lakh cheaper than before.

Additionally, the powerful 3.0-liter petrol and diesel variants are priced at ₹1.18 crore, reflecting a reduction of ₹34 lakh. However, the flagship top-end Octa model will continue to be imported as a completely built unit (CBU).

Despite the price cuts, the company has included premium features worth around ₹6.5 lakh as standard. The base X-Dynamic HSE variant now comes equipped with advanced features such as adaptive off-road cruise control, Terrain Response 2, electronic air suspension with adaptive dynamics, solar attenuating windscreen, headlight power wash, ClearSight interior rearview mirror, and wade sensing.

With local assembly, the Defender not only offers better value for money but is also expected to enhance its market presence and sales in the luxury car segment.
