Record Number of Pilgrims Visit Shri Mata Vaishno Devi
This year, the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrimage has reached a remarkable milestone. As of June 22, the number of devotees visiting the sacred cave temple located in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir has surpassed 5 million. An official reported on Tuesday that this figure represents an impressive increase of over 27.3% compared to the 3.984 million pilgrims who visited during the same period last year.
According to a spokesperson from the Shrine Board, approximately 3.984 million devotees visited the holy temple last year, while this year, the number has risen to 5.070 million, indicating a significant increase of 1.086 million pilgrims.
The spokesperson emphasized that this substantial rise in the number of devotees is a testament to the unwavering faith and devotion of pilgrims from both India and abroad towards this sacred site. The continuous growth in pilgrim numbers reflects the trust that devotees have in the arrangements made by the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and the collaborative efforts of all involved in managing the pilgrimage.
Under the leadership of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, the Shrine Board has implemented several major initiatives to make the pilgrimage easier, safer, and more comfortable for visitors.
Improvements in infrastructure, accommodation facilities, cleanliness, crowd management systems, health services, battery car operations, ropeway services, disaster management preparations, and digital initiatives have significantly enhanced the convenience for pilgrims and overall service delivery. The spokesperson noted that surpassing the 5 million mark at this point in the year reflects the growing enthusiasm among devotees and bodes well for the continued progress of the pilgrimage in the remaining months.
