Major Flight Cancellations Impact Chennai Airport

On Saturday, Chennai Airport experienced substantial disruptions as a total of 48 flights were canceled, affecting travelers heading to key domestic destinations such as Mumbai, Hyderabad, Delhi, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Ahmedabad, Visakhapatnam, Andaman, Lucknow, Pune, and Guwahati. According to airport officials, IndiGo, the airline responsible for most of the affected flights, has indicated that these cancellations are expected to continue until December 10. Additionally, flights to major eastern and southern destinations, including Kochi, Bhubaneswar, Patna, Thiruvananthapuram, and Kolkata, were also canceled throughout the day.


Meanwhile, smaller ATR aircraft services are still operating on routes to Madurai, Tuticorin, Tiruchirappalli, Salem, Vijayawada, and Bengaluru. Passengers traveling on ATR flights are exempt from landing and departure fees; however, a service charge of ₹1,500 per ticket will still apply. The cancellations at Chennai Airport have significantly impacted services to major domestic destinations, with airlines releasing updated lists of canceled flights for morning, afternoon, and evening schedules.


Flights scheduled between 00:15 and 15:50 were canceled, affecting routes to Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi, and Ahmedabad. Passengers faced disruptions on flights such as number 6081 to Bengaluru at 13:15, flight 495 to Hyderabad at 07:05, flight 6225 to Mumbai at 00:15, and flights 5168, 456, and 2282 to Delhi and Pune at various times. Additionally, flights to tier-2 and regional destinations like Coimbatore, Visakhapatnam, Goa, Guwahati, and Lucknow were also canceled.
