Bhopal Gas Tragedy Waste Incinerated in Pithampur

At the start of the year, the toxic waste linked to the Bhopal gas tragedy resurfaced in discussions. In the Pithampur industrial area of Dhar district, the process of disposing of hazardous chemical waste has recently commenced. This waste has been lying in the Union Carbide factory premises for nearly forty years and poses a severe threat to both the environment and human health. Following the catastrophic Bhopal gas tragedy in 1984, a significant amount of chemical waste, including pesticide-related substances and toxic residues, remained at the factory. Questions regarding the safe and scientific disposal of this waste have persisted for years. Now, with the approval of both state and central governments, it is being destroyed at the Treatment, Storage, and Disposal Facility in Pithampur.


Tragic Road Accident Claims Seven Lives in Jabalpur

On February 11, 2025, a devastating road accident occurred in the Sihora police station area of Jabalpur district. A traveler vehicle carrying pilgrims returning from the Mahakumbh collided violently with a speeding truck on National Highway-30. The impact was so severe that seven pilgrims lost their lives at the scene.


Cough Syrup Incident Claims Lives of 24 Children

In early October 2025, a tragic incident involving toxic cough syrup in Madhya Pradesh led to the deaths of 24 children. The fatalities were linked to an allopathic cough syrup sold under the brand name Coldrif, which contained 48.6% diethylene glycol, a highly toxic chemical known to cause kidney failure. Following this incident, action was taken against a pharmaceutical company based in Tamil Nadu.

Rodent Incident Claims Lives of Newborns in Indore Hospital

A shocking incident emerged from Indore, where negligence at the Government Maharaja Yashwantrao (MY) Hospital led to a disturbing case. In the pediatric surgery department's NICU, two newborns were reportedly bitten by rodents, resulting in their deaths. One of the infants was from Dhar district, while the other was from a family in Kamalapur, Dewas district. The girl was admitted on August 31 and was bitten on her hand by a rat. Doctors indicated that she was already in a critical condition with low hemoglobin levels.


Bus Accident on Indore-Khandwa Highway

On a Monday night around 9:45 PM, a bus filled with passengers (MP-13 ZDE 4895) lost control and fell into a 20-foot deep gorge near Bherughata on the Indore-Khandwa route. This tragic accident resulted in the deaths of three individuals. The bodies of two victims were taken to a hospital in Mahu, while a woman succumbed to her injuries at MY Hospital. An eyewitness reported that the bus was en route from Omkareshwar to Indore when the driver lost control after another vehicle suddenly appeared.


Old Bridge Collapses in Raisen

In Raisen district, an approximately 50-year-old bridge on the Bareli-Pipariya highway suddenly collapsed. The incident occurred while two-wheeled vehicles were crossing the bridge. The collapse caused several bikers to fall, resulting in at least 10 injuries and creating chaos in the area.


Tragic Accident in Gwalior Claims Five Young Lives

Late on November 16, 2025, a road accident in the Maharajapura police station area of Gwalior district resulted in the deaths of five young men. A tractor-trolley loaded with sand collided head-on with a speeding Fortuner car. All five victims were returning from a wedding, turning celebrations into mourning for their families. The collision was so severe that the front of the Fortuner was completely wrecked.


HIV Contamination Incident in Satna

A serious incident occurred in Satna district, where several children reportedly contracted HIV due to negligence during blood transfusions at the district hospital. These children, suffering from severe conditions like thalassemia, required regular blood transfusions. Investigations revealed that blood from the hospital's blood bank was administered to the children without knowledge of any infections. However, during routine checks in the first half of December 2025, 4 to 6 children tested positive for HIV, prompting the government to suspend three officials.
